Опубликовано: 16 янв. 2018 г. This a very hard to find and stunning BBC live recording of the Tygers just prior to them releasing their second album (the first featuring guitar hero John Sykes), "Spellbound" (their best so far imo). They are full of energy and recording quality is superior despite the fact than John Sykes guitar is a little weak during the first half of the first song. For all you lovers of NWOBHM and Sykes, this truly is an amazing document.

John Sykes is a clear-cut reflection of the closest thing to a living legend. In his extraordinary existence of 57 years, he has already played with Streetfighter, Tygers of Pan Tang, John Sloman’s Badlands, Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, and Blue Murder. Sykes had his first taste in heavy metal at the age of 21 when he joined the Tygers of Pan Tang in 1980 as the second guitarist for two of their albums: Spellbound and Crazy Nights. Whitesnake, the self-titled album released by the band and co-written with Sykes reached on the billboard 200 chart and sold over eight million albums. Although Sykes is a guitarist, he has been proven an excellent lyricist and has even recorded rare vocals.

Subsequently John Sykes (later of Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake) was added as second guitarist. Jess Cox then sought pastures new, and was replaced by Persian Risk vocalist Jon Deverill. This line up released the Classic LP Spellbound in 1981. With Deverill's arguably superior vocals and greater experience, the album was critically acclaimed and loved by the fans. Tygers Of Pan Tang's fourth album The Cage (1982) was their most accomplished effort and things looked promising. Unfortunately the record company support was lackiing and were not prepared to promote the band unless they agreed to play more cover recordings (following the band's hit with "Love Potion No. 9"). The band tried to break free from their contract, but MCA's demands exceeded the willingness of any other record company to pay to free the band and the band broke up in frustration.

Sykes joined Tygers of Pan Tang in 1980, and played guitar on the albums Spellbound (1981) and Crazy Nights (1982), as well as participating on two tracks for their 1983 release, The Cage. In 1982, John Sykes was recruited by former Uriah Heep frontman John Sloman, for his new band Badlands, alongside his future Whitesnake bandmate Neil Murray. Sykes co-wrote the majority of the songs on Whitesnake's 1987 self-titled album with David Coverdale, and recorded the guitar as well as some backing vocal tracks. Near the end of the 1987 sessions Coverdale fired the entire band (allegedly because of personality clashes and matters of ego) and brought in Adrian Vandenberg to record the solo on "Here I.

He is a heavy metal/hard rock guitarist who has played with Streetfighter, Tygers Of Pan Tang, Badlands, Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, Blue Murder, and his solo project John Sykes. He is best known for his song-writing of and playing on the Whitesnake album 1987.
