The Silk Roads: A New History of the World is a 2015 non-fiction book written by Peter Frankopan, an English academic at the University of Oxford. He has also studied Greek literature of the Middle Ages.

Silk Road was an online black market and the first modern darknet market, best known as a platform for selling illegal drugs. As part of the dark web, it was operated as a Tor hidden service, such that online users were able to browse it anonymously and securely without potential traffic monitoring.

About the Silk Roads. Human beings have always moved from place to place and traded with their neighbours, exchanging goods, skills and ideas. The process of travelling the Silk Roads developed along with the roads themselves. In the Middle Ages, caravans consisting of horses or camels were the standard means of transporting goods across land.

Tidal - Silk Roads (2005). Strictly digital drum & bass. Tides is taken from 'Future History' - Nu:Tone's fourth studio album. Featuring soft keys on the intro, the tune takes full shape with a relaxing bassline toped with deep vocals from Lea Lea. Released on Hospital Records 10th November!

It was called the Silk Road because silk was traded along it. At the time, silk was only made in China, and it was a valuable material. The Silk Road not only earned China a lot of money, but all along the route cities prospered and markets flourished. Cities like Samarkand and Bukhara were built largely on the trade from the silk route.
