Hit n Run Phase Two is the thirty-ninth studio album by American recording artist Prince and the last to be released in his lifetime. It was initially released exclusively on the Tidal streaming service on December 12, 2015 for streaming and purchase as a continuation of his previous album, Hit n Run Phase One. Prince confirmed on Twitter that a physical CD would be released during a weekend of Paisley Park shows in January 2016
Hitnrun Phase Two (stylized as HITnRUN Phase Two) is the 39th full-length studio album by Prince, and the final Prince-related album to be released during his lifetime. It was released digitally in December 2015, just three months after his previous album Hitnrun Phase One, and four months before his death. The album contains twelve tracks, six of which were previously unreleased in any shape or form.
HITnRUN Phase Two may be Prince’s best album in a decade or two, and certainly the most confident and agreeable confirmation of his qualities for many a year. Sly is, of course, one of the major influences looming over HITnRUN Phase Two. When he sings, in the closing triumphalist march Big City, that Everybody’s a star/You’re the most pretty, it’s a deliberate nod back to the collectivist uplift of Everybody Is A Star ; and if that isn’t former Family Stone bass legend Larry Graham slapping out that intro to Stare, somebody’s doing a damn good impression of him.
Prince’s 39th studio album would, unfortunately, turn out to be his last. The circumstances lend HITNRUN Phase Two an air of gravitas-even if it doesn’t have the massive pop appeal of some of his earlier work. If there ain’t no justice then there ain’t no peace, he cries on the gently political (and gorgeously melodic) opener Baltimore, setting an impassioned tone that gives depth to some of Prince’s warmest songwriting. There’s mischief here, too, especially with the playfully scandalous fun of Xtralovable. HITnRUN Phase Two Prince.
HITNRUN Phase Two includes previously released songs "Baltimore" and "Screwdriver, which have been reworked for the new release. In early September, Prince dropped HITNRUN Phase One exclusively on Tidal. He earned his 25th top 10 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums with the debut of his Phase One at No. 8 on the Oct. 3-dated chart.

Hit n Run Phase Two is the thirty-ninth and final studio album by American recording artist Prince and the last to be released before his death on April 21, 2016. Prince confirmed on Twitter that a physical CD would be released during a weekend of Paisley Park shows in January 2016. The CD was given away to attendees of the shows on the Australian and New Zealand leg of the Piano & A Microphone Tour. Both discs are off-center on my copy. Doesn't really matter as the album is pretty shyte to begin with.
