Tuesday, December 16, 2008. McHayes - Lessons In Lonely (2003). Okay, this is Country. No Southern Rock to be found here. But I figured since y'all love Southern Rock, chances are you dig some Country too? Anyway, this is not in line with what I usually post. And I won't make a habit out of it. It's way too straight for me. But it's good. McHayes were a duo: Wade Hayes and Mark McClurg. This album was supposed to be released in 2003, but it got shelved instead. And then they got off the label's roster. And the music being kept from having an audience.
McHayes also recorded an album titled Lessons in Lonely, which was slated for release in mid-2003 under the production of Brent Rowan. The album was never released, and the duo exited Universal South's roster. McClurg returned to The Strayhorns, while Hayes resumed his solo career and played guitar for Randy Owen.

The duo charted one single on the country charts and recorded one unreleased album for the Universal South label, "Lessons in Lonely. 1996-1997: On a Good Night. On a Good Night, Hayes' second album, was released via Columbia in 1996. Although the album's lead-off single (which was the title track) peaked at No. 2 on the country charts, the second and third singles - "Where Do I Go to Start All Over" and "It's over My Head" - both failed to make Top 40. Nonetheless, the album was certified gold as well. Also included on this album was a cover of "Undo the Right", a song originally recorded by Willie Nelson.
