The Gentle Good is the stage name of Gareth Bonello (born 13 April 1981), a singer-songwriter and folk musician from Cardiff who performs in English and Welsh. The stage name is inspired by Bonello's, with "Gareth" traditionally meaning "Gentle" in Welsh. In addition to his own material, Bonello has had a longstanding partnership with musician Richard James and has also collaborated with other artists as a session musician.
The EP contains brand new tracks and previously unreleased material as well as outtakes and an album track from the recent Welsh Music Prize winning ‘Ruins/Adfeilion’. In keeping with the ‘Ruins/Adfeilion’ album, themes of the natural world, cultural identity and social justice feature prominently in ‘Y Gwyfyn’ EP. The title track describes a hot summer evening as perceived through the senses of a moth, whilst ‘Briwsion‘ (Crumbs) is a critique of social inequality in today’s modern world.
6. Suffer the Small Birds. The result is an engaging collection of songs, some of which pay tribute to what has gone before whilst others address the here and now. As the follow-up to 2013’s Y Bardd.

Y Gwyfyn by The Gentle Good, released 09 February 2018 1. Y Gwyfyn 2. Briwsion 3. Y Pysgotwr 4. Cariad Cyntaf 5. Golwg y Gwdihŵ. A sensibility of deep emotion and unbridled nature, not unlike that of Kate Bush, infuses Bryde's work. This is her first album, but her previous two EPs are also top-notch. Her music liesat the mysterious nexus of folk, pop, and alternative rock. For Concrete And Country by Concretism. supported by 4 fans who also own Y Gwyfyn. Lightly Satanic Mills Watch Markman.

Traditional songs are, as Gareth notes, a staple of his live sets, so his choice of ‘Gwen Lliw r Lili (Gwen Colour of the Lilly)’ from the Maria Jane Williams Collection, Ancient National Airs of Gwent and Morgannwg (1844) as the album’s opener is entirely fitting. Y Gwyfyn (The Moth)’ offers a little light to contrast with the shade of some of the other tunes on the album with a lyric imagining what it would be like to be a moth on a warm summer’s night.
The Gentle Good is a Welsh folk project devised by Gareth Bonello from Cardiff, Wales. He plays folk songs on his acoustic guitar in both English and Welsh. He appeared on 'In the City - Unsigned 2006', a compilation album from the In The City festival with the song 'Amser'.
