Rockin’ With the Boys.
Spaceman is the eighth studio album by American guitarist Ace Frehley, released on October 19, 2018. The album features guest appearance from Ace Frehley's former Kiss bandmate Gene Simmons. The album was announced in February 2018 and was expected to be released in April 2018, but was delayed. The album features three alternative covers. Spaceman features reunion of sorts with his former Kiss bandmate Gene Simmons, who co-wrote and played bass on the opener "Without You I'm Nothing.
Founding KISS guitarist and Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Ace Frehley has released a new song today called "Rockin' With The Boys". Frehley previously released the track "Bronx Boy" in April. Spaceman", Frehley's eighth solo LP, features nine new original tracks, including a cover of Eddie Money's "I Wanna Go Back", a ripping power pop makeover of the original.
Based on the Spaceman sleeve, Ace ‘The Spaceman’ Frehley appears to be in no particular hurry. Shrink-wrapped in spandex, reclining on a silver throne, he’s every inch the coasting, royalty funded veteran. But the numbers tell a different story. Spaceman is the 67-year-old’s third solo album in four years, a hot streak that makes the Kiss mothership look positively sluggish (six years and counting since Monster). In fairness, Frehley isn’t exactly painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel with these late-period solo releases
ACE FREHLEY I used to lie in the hallway outside the bathroom, loaded on Quaaludes and alcohol. People were stepping over me. I did the whole gamut at the Rainbow. How did you end up calling this new album Spaceman? I was going to call it 40 Years Later. Then Gene asked me to come down to Miami to do a Vault Experience with him, and we were doing a Q&A and I threw that title out to the audience to get feedback, and it was lukewarm. Gene goes, "Ace, you should call the album Spaceman. I liked the idea of calling it Spaceman. I think it reinforces with the fans who the real Spaceman is, which doesn't hurt at this juncture
Ace Frehley is on a roll, and he’s ready to embark on his next musical journey with Spaceman, his third solo outing in four years, and eighth overall. First off, Frehley played all of the guitar parts on Spaceman, as well as bass on all but two songs . Ace is at the top of his game and Spaceman might just be one of the best things he’s done snce his 1978 solo album. It really does recapture the classic sound the '78 solo. The whole album has a real laidback Frehley sound. Love the cover of "I Wanna Go Back".
Released October 19, 2018. 1. Without You I'm Nothing Lyrics. 2. Rockin' With the Boys Lyrics.
Original KISS guitarist, Ace Frehley, has just released the new song "Rockin' With the Boys," the second track he has dropped from his forthcoming album Spaceman, which comes out Oct. 19. In April, Frehley greased the wheels for the record by releasing "Bronx Bo. Frehley wrote "Rockin' With the Boys" during KISS '70s glory years. The song is about life on the road, and includes the lyric, "No need to worry, I’ll be home soon, ’cause I’m rockin’ with the boys.
