Six Finger Satellite's first full-length album, The Pigeon Is the Most Popular Bird, was released in 1993, with Kurt Niemand replacing Dixon on bass. The record more accurately represented the band's vision of noisy, cyborg-esque post-punk, and was recorded by Bob Weston, whose band Shellac named their 1994 single, The Bird is the Most Popular Finger in tribute. Six Finger Satellite attracted a significant underground following during the 1990s, and are today recognized for their somewhat prophetic fusion of electronic and post-punk music. In 2005, Jonathan Galkin remarked that "if a band came out today that sounded like Paranormalized, they'd be signed to a huge record deal, sight unseen. Similar bands that existed alongside 6FS in the 1990s included Trans Am, Brainiac, The . and The Dismemberment Plan. A Good Year For Hardness. Released: October 20, 2009.

Six Finger Satellite have navigated the murky industry waters with a healthy embrace of adventure since the beginning of the 1990s. Theirs is music grounded deep in bedrock but looking to the sps, lifting spirits and discovering uncharted territories along the way. Prefiguring many figures in today’s ge-podge scene. After an eight-year hiatus, Six Finger Satellite resurfaced to release a new set of old unexplored horizons titled Half Control on Load Records and also A Good Year For Hardness on the brand new Providence label Anchor Brain

Ride rails, ride ride. Midnight rails, gonna ride...If you're expecting a synth show like Paranormalized then look elsewhere. But I think this is some of their best work next to Law of Ruins and Half Control. If you like later 6fs you should really be able to get into this. Basically every song on here rocks but I could do without Rome From Home and Don't Let Me. They're not terrible songs, but I don't quite get into them as much as the rest of the LP.
