Fairport Convention are a British folk rock band, formed in 1967 by Richard Thompson (guitar, vocals), Simon Nicol (guitar, vocals), Ashley Hutchings (bass guitar), and Shaun Frater (drums, percussion), with Frater replaced by Martin Lamble after their first gig. They started out heavily influenced by American folk rock and singer-songwriter material, with a setlist dominated by covers of Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell songs and a sound that earned them the nickname the British Jefferson Airplane.

Live from Cropredy Festival 2001 (Live).

The Cropredy Festival (or Fairport's Cropredy Convention) is an annual festival of folk and rock music held in August on the edge of the village of Cropredy in Oxfordshire, England. It has been organised by the band Fairport Convention since 1980. The festival has expanded from a one-day event first held in 1980 (although the band had played annual reunions in the village since 1976), to a three day festival attracting more than 20,000 people each year, making it the largest annual festival of its kind in Britain.

Fairport's Cropredy Convention Festival tour dates, event details and much more. Now in its fortieth year, Fairport's Cropredy Convention presents three days of great music in a stunning rural setting. Billed as Britain's friendliest music festival, the event attracts up to 20,000 music fans of all ages from all walks of life. Cropredy's eclectic (and sometimes quirky line-up) offers something to most musical tastes
