Bob Dylan is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on March 19, 1962 by Columbia Records. Produced by Columbia's legendary talent scout John H. Hammond, who signed Dylan to the label, the album features folk standards, plus two original compositions, "Talkin' New York" and "Song to Woody".

Second, although I am including this song, it must be made clear that the melody and chord sequence are clearly based on the Woody Guthrie song 1913 Massacre. Dylan claims it as his own, but not I believe in any sense of misleading us, for Woody Guthrie also purloined old songs and reused them for his own devices. That was the folk tradition. The song appeared of course on the 1962 Bob Dylan album. Here is a recording of Woody Guthrie’s original.
