Georg Trakl (3 February 1887 – 3 November 1914) was an Austrian poet and brother of the pianist Grete Trakl. He is considered one of the most important Austrian Expressionists. He is perhaps best known for his poem "Grodek", which he wrote shortly before he died of a cocaine overdose. Trakl was born and lived the first 21 years of his life in Salzburg
Georg Trakl enlisted in the Austro-Hungarian army as a medic in 1914 at the beginning of World War I. He personally witnessed the carnage of the Battle of Gródek (fought at Gródek, then in the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria), in which the Austro-Hungarian army suffered a bloody defeat at the hands of the Russians. One evening following the battle he ran outside and attempted to shoot himself to avoid the cries of the wounded and dying; he was prevented from doing so and was sent to a mental hospital. Grodek" was either his last poem or one of his very last poems

Georg Trakl is an important lyric poet in German literature of the early twentieth century. Critics associate his work with various modern artistic movements, and he is viewed as one of the principal writers to set the dark, introspective tone that later influenced the course of German expressionism. Affinities with imagism have also been noted in Trakl’s strikingly visual style
Heinz Woester (1901–1970) was a Swiss film and television actor. Selected filmography. Madness Rules (German: Matto regiert) is a 1947 Swiss crime film directed by Leopold Lindtberg and starring Heinrich Gretler, Heinz Woester and Elisabeth Müller. It is based on the 1936 novel of the same name by Friedrich Glauser. Lead actor Gretler reprised his role of the policeman Jakob Studer from the 1939 film Constable Studer, also adapted from a Glauser novel.
