Jerry Portnoy in Paris, France; November 7, 1976. Portnoy began to perform professionally in 1970, touring the Midwest with the band of Johnny Young (guitar/mandolin). He formed his own band, called the Streamliners, in 1989. They released the CD Poison Kisses in 1991 (later re-issued as Home Run Hitter with three extra tracks). That same year Eric Clapton invited Portnoy to join an all-star blues band for the six blues shows at London's Royal Albert Hall as part of Clapton's 24-night stand. In 2001, he released his second solo album, Down in the Mood Room. The New York Times (1987) said, "Mr. Portnoy crests like an alto saxophone.
Poison kisses - Jerry Portnoy There's a girl who drives me wild Every time she starts to dance She's a voodoo ancient child And she puts m. She's got lips as sweet as wine And the only problem is is I want to make her mine But I know the're poison kisses. Poison kisses, cast a spell on me I can't control. When I go to sleep at night She appears to haunt my dreams I awake up in a fright Because some times it truly seems. That I can feel her in my room And the feeling is delicious There is the scent of her perfume And the taste of poisoned kisses.

Jerry Portnoy was born in Chicago in 1943, and literally grew up with The Blues all around him. His father had a store on Maxwell Street Market and young harp players like Little Walter and ‘Shakey’ Horton could be heard outside playing for tips in the biggest melting-pot for creative Blues the world has ever seen. In the mid-60s, Jerry toured with Johnny Young for a couple of years, then served similar apprenticeships with guitarist Johnny Littlejohn, in drummer Sam Lay’s band and in the houseband at Buddy Guy ‘s Checkerboard Lounge. After two successful years Jerry decided to lead his own band The Streamliners, and their first album ‘Poison Kisses’ was a energetic run through some modern, up-tempo Chicago Blues, with several of Jerry’s own songs, and he also took lead vocals on some tracks.
