The Campbells are coming from bonnie Loch Lomond The Campbells are coming, O-ho! O-ho! The great Argyle he goes before He makes guns and cannons roar Wi' the sound o' trumpet, pipe and drum And banners waving in the sun. The Campbells are coming, O-ho! O-ho! The Campbells are coming, O-ho! O-ho! The Campbells are coming from bonnie Loch Lomond The Campbells are coming, O-ho! O-ho! Wi' bonnet blue, auld Scotia's pride And braid Claymore hung at their side W' plumes all nodding in the wind They ha'e no' left a man behind  . The Campbells they are a' in arms Their loyal faith and truth to show With banners rattling in the wind The Campbells are coming, Ho-Ro! Ho-Ro! The Campbells are coming, Ho-Ro!

The song ostensibly refers to the Second Coming of Christ and subsequent Rapture, with the she referring to the chariot that the returning Christ is pictured as driving. Like many spirituals originating in the African-American community, this was probably a coded anthem for the Underground Railroad. The secularized version was sung by railroad work gangs in the Midwestern United States in the 1890s. The song has been recorded by musicians ranging from Tommy Tucker Time (78'inch) to Pete Seeger and Barney the Dinosaur. Bing Crosby included the song in a medley on his album 101 Gang Songs (1961). Harking back to the original lyrics of "When the Chariot Comes", the song is sometimes referenced in relation to the end of the world, most notably in The Illuminatus! Trilogy and the comic book Promethea.

Tommy (1985-1987) is not only the definitive look at the early Wedding Present, it's one of the great albums of the mid-'80s . The speedy rush of the rhythm section, David Gedge's artless vocals and everyday-life lyrics, and most importantly, Pete Solowka's inimitable guitar style (on a scene where seemingly everyone else was mimicking Johnny Marr, Solowka's manic up-and-down strum was instantly recognizable) were so important to the development of this style of music that without these singles, things likely. would have sounded very, very different.
