You think I'll run, not walk, to you Why would I want to talk to you? I want you crawling back to me Down on your knees, yeah Like an appendectomy Sans anesthesia. If you think you can leave the past behind You must be out of your mind If you think you can simply press rewind You must be out of your mind, son You must be out of your mind. You want what you turned off turned on You call it sunset, now it's dawn You can't go 'round just saying stuff Because it's pretty And I no longer drink enough To think you're witty.

Rodd Keith (born Rodney Keith Eskelin; January 30, 1937 – December 15, 1974) was an American t and songwriter. He is perhaps the best known figure in the obscure musical subgenre known as song poem music. He worked for several companies active in the song poem business, a practice also known as song sharking, and generally dismissed as a scam.

A retrospective of an American original - the varied works of Rodd Keith (aka Rod Rogers), the musical auteur of MSR's send-us-your-lyrics record label, and the insane genius of Beat Of The Traps and The Makers Of Smooth Music. America's most wretched lyrics transformed by a uniquely twisted sensibility. Jazz, rock, ballads and exotica like you've never heard before. Newly discovered recordings, curated by the artist's son, jazz saxophonist Ellery Eskelin. Sample this album Artist (Sample).

I discovered that my father Rodd Keith (as he was known in the music business), had himself been discovered by an intrepid record collector and was now gaining cult status for his work in the "song poem" industry. Song poem" music refers to those "send us your lyrics" ads that you've probably seen in magazines. Rodd was one of the people who set those words to music and recorded the songs which were then "sent around" as promotion on behalf of the client. A strange process that produced even stranger results. This is Rodd's (and my) story
