The studio practices of the Beatles evolved during the 1960s and, in some cases, influenced the way popular music was recorded. Some of the effects they employed were sampling, artificial double tracking (ADT) and the elaborate use of multitrack recording machines. They also used classical instruments on their recordings and guitar feedback.
Rubber Soul is the sixth studio album by English rock band the Beatles. Before the recording sessions, McCartney was given a new bass, a Rickenbacker 4001, which had a fuller bass sound than the Hofner. All of the songs on the album, except for Drive My Car, were recorded using the new bass. Rubber Soul was released on compact disc 30 April 1987, with the 14-song UK track line-up now the international standard. As with the Help! album, Rubber Soul featured a contemporary stereo digital remix of the album prepared by George Martin.
