If the rock history books stay accurate, Brooklyn's They Might Be Giants will go down as being one of the most idiosyncratic bands of all-time-even if that idiosyncrasy seems to wane a little bit on Join Us. This record isn't completely devoid of fun or flavor.

Join Us is the fifteenth studio album from the rock band They Might Be Giants, released on July 19, 2011. It is the band's first adult album in four years since The Else in 2007. Following the success of their 2009 children's album, Here Comes Science, the band returned to their adult audience with Join Us, an eclectic collection of 18 songs. In an interview with The .

They Might Be Giants. The Escape Team is a different kind of album set for the band, with eleven musical portraits of characters drawn from David Cowles’ comic book The Escape Team. The colorful tracks move from the cartoon violence of the book's Big Daddy Roth-inspired origins to mysterious prequels. Includes The Poisonousness (feat. Robin Goldwasser), Jackie the Clipper, Chip the CHiP, and eight more haunting tracks. Flood is the third studio album by Brooklyn-based alternative rock duo They Might Be Giants, released in January 1990. Flood was the duo's first album on the major label Elektra Records. The album is generally considered to be the band's definitive release, as it is their best-selling and most recognizable album.

Join Us. "Please retry". 2011 album from the veteran Alt-Rock duo. Recorded over nine months in New York City with producer Patrick Dillett, Join Us is a truly remarkable album. Do you think They Might Be Giants has gained any fans from the name? It’s fairly unique. I guess I don’t really have much perspective on it - I can’t tell if it’s a good name or not. I was talking to a friend of mine who’s a rock critic, and I was trying to press him on it. We were talking about good names for bands versus bad names, because there are bands that transcend their bad name. He was really kind of mum about whether They Might Be Giants was a good name. So what brought you back to rock for Join Us? It might even be wiser for us professionally to just move to being a kids’ act, but on a personal level, this is what we’re about. We’ve always been a rock act, and I think working the way we do, we’ve got our own thing going. The kids’ stuff is interesting, but over time it became a little more self-cautious for us. I don’t think we really want to be role models and we certainly don’t want to be television presenters.

Their new album, Join Us, offers 18 new tracks that clock in around 46 minutes, meaning they’re 18 pretty short songs, a decision that pays off. The songs are novel in both conception and execution, and the band seems aware of the novelty, aware that two to three minutes is just the right length, that quirky and irreverent work best when the song ends before you want it t. It hit me as I listened to Join Us that They Might be Giants not only deserve the ardent fervor of their most fervent fans, but that they have influenced such a wide array of acts many of us find ourselves a fan of, from Cake to Flight of the Conchords and so many others, that even if they don’t necessarily deserve.
