Notes
CASSETTE 1:Tracks 1-20 are examples of speech work, rhythm, pentatonic melody in different keys, use of percussion instruments in various ways, and the building of simple forms. Tracks 21-39 enlarge the melodic range to the 7 notes of the major key. Drone bass and ostinato accompaniments give way to the use of alternating tonic and supertonic triads and tonic and submediant triads.
CASSETTE 2:
Tracks 1-16 use dominant and subdominant triads in the major key and a number are in the minor pentatonic scale. Tracks 17-35 explore aeolian, dorian and phrygian modes; drone bass, I & VII chords and I & III chords.
CASSETTE 3:
Tracks 1-13 use dominant (major and minor) and subdominant triads in the minor key. Tracks 14-26 use mostly modal melodies (many are Welsh, Irish or Scottish).

Orff-Schulwerk: Music for Children (5 volumes). It's actually a Keetman arrangement of a 1536 song by Hans Neusidler, beginning with a simple rhythmic foundation onto which is gradually layered other straightforward percussion lines, in a way that creates what sounds like a complex, vibrant crescendo. The project began in the 1920s when Orff became interested in renewing music through its partnership with movement - not only in such concert works as Carmina Burana, but in educational pieces as well
Jonny Trunk champions the obscure once again with 'Music for Children (Schulwerk)', a rare and dazzling beautiful album from Carl Orff, Gunild Keetman and Margaret Murray. The album follows a choir of children singers, chanting nursery rhymes and children's songs in spookily stirring harmonies across a minimal backdrop of the occasional discordant xylophone or pieces of percussion. Possibly one of the most lovely and poetic, yet also spine chillingly eerie things we've heard in a long time.
