Times of Grace is the sixth studio album by Californian band Neurosis, released on May 4, 1999. It continued the band's development of the post-metal genre and demonstrates gothic rock and progressive rock influences. This album and Grace, an ambient companion by the band's alter-ego Tribes of Neurot, are designed to play alongside each other. Times of Grace marked the beginning of the band's ongoing working relationship with recording engineer Steve Albini.

Ranking songs on a Neurosis album is absurd. Moreso than any other metal band, their albums are meant to be listened to start to finish, with every song being totally vital and important. But this got me thinking: what happens when you take a Neurosis album and think of it in terms of songs instead of a whole, which is how I’ve been contemplating Neurosis albums since, well, always. It’s a huge, sprawling, 10-minute exorcism of a song that makes perfect sense after having endured the psychological brutality that is the rest of the album. Listened to by itself it’s more pain than gain; listened to at the end of the album, it’s more pain tha. ell, it’s a lot of pain either way, which is what Neurosis does best. Every song on this album is awesome.

The follow-up to 2012's characteristically epic and intense Honor in Decay, the record will be the group's 11th full-length, and will also help mark band's 30th anniversary this year.

NEUROSIS is a Experimental/Post Metal, Progressive Rock artist from United States. Although one might consider NEUROSIS to be an acquired taste, they are a unique band within the progressive metal scene. For those who are not yet familiar with the band I would recommend them to listen to the album "Eye Of Every Storm," which was released in 2004. NEUROSIS Videos (YouTube and more).

Originally a hardcore punk band from California’s Bay Area (they were on Lookout Records at one point, labelmates of Green Day and Operation Ivy), they were outsiders to the metal scene, much like their peers Godflesh. This album was released on the label owned by Jello Biafra, vocalist of the Dead Kennedys. While the band would develop a more coherent sound on the following few albums, Souls At Zero is one of those moments you look back on as changing things. At its heart, it’s almost a set of stretched out Slayer songs, the Satanism replaced by introspection and abstraction,. Enemy of the Sun, their album after this, was quite the aesthetic leap. However, this one gets included for its parallels with the other monsters of 1992.

Neurosis have been writing music for over 30 years, and in that time they have gone through a development in sound akin to that of a human being. In their early days, they played gritty hardcore punk music and entrenched themselves in the East Bay of California's burgeoning scene, forming their craft and intensity. Each album saw them pushing their craft further, to becoming the forerunners of what would become sludge and post-metal. This drive to create would fuel their consistently great discography, their music bridging the gap to elements of folk and many other genres

Neurosis takes their most dominant step yet with their eleventh full-length, Fires Within Fires. A powerful step toward a destination that has long been and continues to be the very heart of "becoming" for the mighty Neurosis. Three decades in the making, striking their signature balance between light and dark, beauty and repulsion, this album gives due to it's predecessors while progressing forward into the unfamiliar and formidable
