Albert James "Alan" Freed (December 15, 1921 – January 20, 1965) was an American disc jockey.
Album · 2009 · 25 Songs. Right Now Right Now. The Alan Freed Rock 'n' Roll Band.
This album by North Carolina band Lou Ford is full of ambitious, anthemic guitar pop with alternative country and folk-rock touches. The opener, "Storz' Bar," certainly sets the bar high, building steadily with Beatlesque flourishes and welling harmonies and then finally giving way to a rugged, Neil Young-like guitar solo. A Mile Away," meanwhile, is unabashed, glorious power pop, once again featuring fine vocal harmonies à la Big Star or Matthew Sweet. And like those two artists, Lou Ford has an uncanny ear for melody. The band doesn't have.

Lou Reed is the debut solo studio album by American musician Lou Reed, released in April 1972 by RCA Records, two years after he left the Velvet Underground.
Rural Pop for Yesterday People.
Lou Ford, a band based in Charlotte, NC, named itself after a character from a Jim Thompson novel. The fictional Lou Ford was someone comprised of various layers, where what you saw on the surface wasn't really the whole story. Underneath, bandmembers say, they really are is more pop-oriented. Alan Edwards was a veteran traveler who spent time in several states, including Virginia, Georgia, and New York. On his travels through North Carolina, he became acquainted with bass player Mark Lynch while both were attending a Backsliders show. Seeing the makings of a band in his growing friendship with Lynch, he invited his brother to relocate from Georgia to North Carolina. Eventually they added Darrell Ussery on drums and John Morris on organ.
