Teach Your Children" is a song by Graham Nash. Although it was written when Nash was a member of the Hollies, it was never recorded by that group in studio (a live recording does exist), and first appeared on the album Déjà Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young released in 1970. The recording features Jerry Garcia on pedal steel guitar. Garcia taught himself how to play the instrument during his tenure with the New Riders of the Purple Sage.
I wrote Teach Your Children because we have much to teach them. Conversely, I believe we as parents have much to learn from them as well. I think that Jeff Scher did a wonderful job of animating my lyrics and positioning the song in a contemporary setting.
Tonight "Teach Your Children" came on. The verse: "Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry, so just look at them and sigh and know they love yo. It brought me to tears. There is an alternate recording of this. Just the 3 of them with acoustic guitar. Ml from Covington, KyI've been trying to find the background lyrics for a while and have found a number of different versions. Somehow, I don't think Graham Nash would want "us" to teach "your" children, (. "we must be free to teach your children"). The version that makes the most to me was at ww. untheranderson.

Teach Your Children". You, who are on the road, Must have a code That you can live by. And so become yourself Because the past is just a goodbye. Teach your children well. Their father's hell Did slowly go by. And feed them on your dreams

I do not like the word teach against children, oh I do not like. I totally agree with this wonderful proverb,: Do not teach your children, they will still be like you. Teach yourself. And when it comes to education, you only need to teach yourself and only yourself. Otherwise, it’s all or demagogy or an invasion of privacy and personal space of another person. Other times not only to teach the child, but an adult. A child is born and he will learn a lot and learn a lot. Adult task – to teach. But not by endless nagging of the same thing, but by example . You’ve heard from the lips of such children. Texts of course a bit modified depending on the age of the child, but one thing comes through clearly – I want to be like my dad (my mom, my parents).
