Tangents is a greatest hits collection from Canadian band The Tea Party, released in 2000 (see 2000 in music). Tangents includes singles from Splendor Solis (1993), The Edges of Twilight (1995), Transmission (1997) and Triptych (1999), together with the single "Walking Wounded", B-sides recorded during the Triptych sessions and a cover of The Rolling Stones' "Paint It, Black". The album reached platinum status within a few months of its release.

Only for completionists (2%). The album starts off with a heavy 'crossover prog' sound, real fuzzy guitar tone over interesting drum patterns, Jeff's brooding vocals and a mellotron shows up for the chorus (gotta have a mellotron!). The album won't remain heavy, in fact it's probably the band's 'softest' release, which is actually still pretty loud compared to other rock acts. This album also does not ditch the Eastern instrumentation and musical excursions, particularly on the heavy and excellent The Halcyon Days.

The Tea Party (1991) is the first album by the Canadian rock group The Tea Party. It was originally recorded as a demo which the band submitted to several record companies. However, the trio was not signed to any recording contract and decided to release the album independently. The album production is relatively lo-fi and the band re-recorded several of the songs for their major label follow-up Splendor Solis

Triptych (1999) is The Tea Party's fifth album. Triptych showed a band with a new confidence in songwriting. After the gloom of Transmission, which relied heavily on sampling and electronica, for Triptych the band wrote with both melody and content, while using electronica subtlety

Another classic from the tea party. This album contains the hard rock they are known for and two of the best ballads they ever made. They have a slight experimental feel about them on this album, but it all gels well. I don't like rock music, but I'm a big fan of the Tea Party because of the middle eastern sounds which they mix into their songs. But I mostly like them because of Jeff Martins voice. He has a beautiful voice, very lyrical and masculine. When I listen to him sing his ballads I actually get chills all over because it sounds so sincere and real-so virile. As opposed to the chessy and treacly songs that are put out by certain "boy bands". The only problem I have with this album is the song "Great Big Lie" which seems to be an attack on The Catholic Church/Christian.

The Tea Party is a Canadian rock band with blues, progressive rock, Indian and Middle Eastern influences, dubbed "Moroccan roll" by the media. Active throughout the 1990s and up until 2005, the band re-formed in 2011. The Tea Party released eight albums on EMI Music Canada, selling over 2 million records worldwide, including 4 double–platinum awards, 1 platinum and 4 gold albums in Canada, and achieving a No. 1 Canadian single "Heaven Coming Down" in 1999.

Biography by John Bush. Canadian band created heavy alternative rock with hints of goth, anchored by the sinister low register of Jeff Martin. The Edges of Twilight. Tangents: The Tea Part. ee Full Discography.
